Another UK Abattoir Caught Out Inflicting Harrowing Abuse

Barely a year after Animal Aid first released harrowing footage taken inside UK abattoirs, they have uncovered more abuse. Video footage secretly recorded at Elmkirk Ltd (Cheale Meats) makes for distressing viewing, but astonishingly, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs are refusing to prosecute those responsible because the abattoir staff were not consulted about the cameras.

The hidden cameras at the Cheale Meats abattoir recorded staff punching pigs, hitting them with bats, burning their faces with cigarettes and forcing injured pigs to drag themselves into the stun pen. One … Read more.

Edinburgh’s Parents Get the Message to Look After Their Kids’ Health

After hearing of the alarming expansion of kids’ waistbands in the Scottish capital – about one in 10 of its Primary 1 schoolchildren is now considered clinically obese, according to the NHS National Services Scotland – we’ve placed our latest billboard at Crewe Toll, in Edinburgh, in the hopes that residents will take stock of the city’s ballooning childhood obesity problem. The eye-catching advert reads, “Feeding Kids Meat Is Child Abuse. Fight the Fat. Go Veg”.

PETA Takes Meat Warning to Cardiff

This week, three of our brilliant activists hit Cardiff city centre in biohazard suits. Holding signs reading, “Meat Is a Biohazard. Go Vegan”, they were there to let people know about the link between today’s factory farming methods and the increase in diseases spreading to humans. A recent study published in the Guardian listed Cardiff as having one of the worst outbreaks of swine flu in the country.

Cramming animals by the thousands into filthy sheds and forcing them to live surrounded by their own faeces creates a perfect breeding ground for … Read more.

PETA’s Fishy Proposal

Fishing Stinks

When we heard that North Norfolk District Council was selling a disused lavatory in the seaside town of Sheringham, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to try to help aquatic animals. PETA proposed placing an anti-fishing ad that reads, “What’s That Pong? Fishing Stinks, Go Vegan,” on the side of the public toilet, which overlooks the sea, until it sells.

Whilst locals may think the toilet stunk, what really stinks is the abuse that fish suffer as they are dragged from the sea, stamped on, cut open whilst still … Read more.

Lettuce Ladies Take On Gaga

PETA’s lovely Lettuce Ladies were very visible outside Madame Tussauds today, handing out tasty vegan sausages to people queuing up for the unveiling of the new Lady Gaga wax figure. To celebrate the event, the famous wax museum offered free admission to the first 100 people who showed up to the event dressed like the rocker.

Expecting to see some attendees emulating Lady Gaga’s notorious meat dress, which she wore at the MTV Video Music Awards, the Lettuce Ladies decided to head on over to the event and spread the vegan … Read more.
