“It sells what?” That’s a common response when people find out that Fortnum & Mason is still stocking inhumanely produced foie gras. Since I joined PETA as a campaigner last month, I’ve been arranging regular protests outside the Piccadilly store to raise awareness about this vile and un-British product.
With the help of a team of volunteers from all around the world (one of them invariably kitted out as a goose), I have taken to the streets to tell passers-by, tourists and, most importantly, Fortnum & Mason’s customers the truth: that geese … Read more.
All around the world, people agree – chasing, stabbing, mutilating and killing a bull isn’t very entertaining, nor does it constitute “culture”, in Spain or anywhere else. So, upon learning that over the next few weeks, the Spanish government is considering legislation to protect and promote bullfighting and recognise it as cultural heritage, international animal rights groups decided to take action – together!
PETA has joined forces with Humane Society International, the League Against Cruel Sports, World Society for the Protection of Animals, CAS International and Spanish group Fundación … Read more.
Cruelty is in the air, as a result of the shipments of terrified monkeys to laboratories in the cargo holds of some Air France flights.
Every other major airline in the world refuses to transport primates for animal testing. Air France even cancelled an individual shipment of primates after a public outcry led by PETA US and its supporters but has yet to end its shameful complicity in the barbaric vivisection trade once and for all.

Many of the monkeys Air France flies to laboratories have … Read more.
Happy New Year, everyone! As we all recover from the festive season, now is the perfect time to think about new ways to eliminate animal exploitation from every aspect of our lives – from changing what we eat and wear to speaking out against abuse and brutality.
Here are five simple ideas for making 2013 your most compassionate year yet:
1. Cut animal products out of your diet. Going vegan is a great way to burn off those Christmas calories while also saving hundreds of animals’ lives a year. Order one of

Guy Weston is the chair of Wittington Investments, owner of Fortnum & Mason. He has the authority to end Fortnum & Mason’s support for foie gras cruelty today – he just needs enough people to tell him how objectionable foie gras is and that compassionate people across the world will not stop the pressure until Fortnum & Mason ends the sale of foie gras in its store and restaurants.
Please take just a few minutes to call Mr Weston. Ask to speak to him directly, although you … Read more.
A few months ago, I changed my name to the catchy StopFortnumAndMasonFoieGrasCruelty.com in protest of department store Fortnum & Mason‘s sales of the hideously cruel food product foie gras. During that time, PETA has had many successes for ducks and geese, including persuading Lord’s Cricket Ground and the National Trust to ditch foie gras. However, I am greatly saddened that Fortnum & Mason continue to fund the force-feeding and killing of these vulnerable birds. So for my birthday, I am asking for your help in getting my old name back!

Every year, more than 6 million animals are subjected to the horrors of being transported long distances across Europe. Investigations have repeatedly shown that the most basic EU rules concerning rest, food and water for the animals are repeatedly flouted.
Obviously, PETA would like to see the end of all live-animal transport – but until that happens, we need to do all that we can to prevent as much cruelty and suffering as possible. There is currently a Written Declaration in front of the European Parliament which calls for a maximum journey … Read more.

One of the great things about working for PETA is being able to bring about swift progress for animals, often through co-ordinated efforts with PETA’s international affiliates. A superb example of this arose very recently when PETA and our affiliates obtained photographs of dogs at an American airport being flown on a German plane to face experiments in a laboratory right here in the UK. More than 50 beagles are shown in the photographs, and the freight labels (because they are just “freight” to the airline) identify them as heading for Charles … Read more.
