Vote for Your Favourite PETA Europe Stunt!

In the years that PETA Europe has been stirring up action for animals in this corner of the world, we’ve done some pretty crazy publicity stunts, ads and events that have grabbed your (and the media’s!) attention. This means getting the important message about animal cruelty, and how we can stop it, to the masses.

There have been naked protests, celebrity ads, and sooo much more. But what we want to know is which was your favourite stunt! Leave a comment below with your answer, and on Friday 22nd August we’ll pick someone at random for a fun-packed prize of PETA goodies, letting you know if you’ve won by the following Tuesday.

Honourable mentions include:

Manure dump at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant: Last year, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay got his come-uppance for cooking horse meat on The F-Word, when a truck-load of horse manure was delivered to his restaurant.

Force-feeding activists in Selfridges foie-gras protest: We tied an activist to a chair (of her own free will!) down Oxford Street and ‘force-fed’ her grain to highlight Selfridges’ failure to take cruel foie-gras off their shelves.

Running of the Nudes in Pamplona: Bullfighting and Running of the Bulls are bloodsports that PETA supporters just love to get naked about! For five years running, hundreds of nude activists marched the streets of Pamplona to protest this cruel ‘tradition’.

MPs protest against bearskin hats: Cross-party MPs put their differences and paperwork aside for the afternoon, as key parliamentary figures including Glenda Jackson and Chris Mullin donned big faux-fur hats and protested against the use of real bearskins for the Queen’s Guards’ caps.

Naked, pregnant farrowing crate protest: A heavily pregnant (and v. brave!) gal got naked and on all fours in Covent Garden for Mother’s Day, to highlight the suffering of pigs forced to live in farrowing crates.

There are loads more, so dig deep, think back and do remind me of any I may have forgotten! Oh, and check out the privacy policy and terms and conditions if you’re gunning to win our goodie bag. Let the voting begin!

Naked, Bloody and Giving San Fermin What For

If there’s one way to show the world that bullfighting is cruel, we think it might be to strip off, cover yourself in fake blood, stick a ‘banderillo’ in your back and lay across the streets of Pamplona. That’s why on Saturday over 60 activists from all over the world – seriously, Austria, Germany, Portugal, France, even Florida! – got (mostly) naked and protested against the San Fermin festival, which is currently underway.

It all kicked off this morning with the Running of the Bulls, where bulls are chased through the slippery and winding streets, being hit by runners as they race past. While human injuries are often reported (nine people this year already), it’s the bulls who face a deadly fate, leading onto the bloody bullfights and a gory slaughter.

Check out RunningOfTheNudes.com to see photos of past naked events to end bullfighting and Running of the Bulls.

Naked News Conferences for Bulls

A racy, nude video is now available for viewing on RunningOfTheNudes.com or by clicking the video below. A team of amazing activists travelled around the world to spread the word about PETA’s new initiative to end bullfighting - ‘The Naked Truth: Bullfighting is Cruel.’ The gorgeous ladies and gents delivered nude news conferences to masses of stunned (and probably very happy) onlookers and media in Paris, Sydney, Madrid, Amsterdam and more, with a cheeky little treat at the end. Be warned however, you must be 18 or over to view the video!
