Armani Rabbit Fur Campaign Makes Its London Debut!

Armani, Armani, Armani. Where should I start? Last month, the lovely Gillian Anderson kicked off a PETA US campaign against Giorgio Armani, for his complete and utter failure to keep his word and remain fur-free. This video investigation of a rabbits kicking and screaming during slaughter on a fur farm, will show you what he is supporting. Since then, a tirade of celebrities have lent their voices to the campaign, including Sir Paul McCartney and Pamela Anderson, all upset over Armani’s penchant for rabbit pelts. PETA US has also written to many Armani-wearing stars, including Josh Hartnett, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Glenn Close, and Cate Blanchett, urging them to use their influence with the designer to get him to keep his fur-free pledge.

Now it’s time us Brits got involved and gave him what for! Check out the (totally gross but) amazing Pinochio posters we unveiled outside Armani’s flagship store in Knightsbridge today – perfect for Halloween, don’tcha think? If you missed the protest, you can still help. Watch this video, take action and make sure you forward it to everyone you know.

Rabbit’s Head and Heart removed By Twisted Killer

In my time I have seen a lot of animal abuse stories, and with each story my heart breaks just a little bit more. This story, however, from Pentwyn in Cardiff is one of the most heartbreaking I have heard about yet. According to news reports, an unknown assailant has killed a rabbit by ripping off her head and removing her heart before callously leaving her remains strewn about the garden where she had lived. This sick violence harks back to the bunny skinned and left for her family to find in the garden recently. What on earth is going on?! Of course, PETA is offering a reward to catch the killer, so make sure you get in touch if you know anything. Remember, research in psychology and criminology shows that people who commit acts of cruelty to animals often go on to commit violent acts against their fellow humans. So who knows who could be next…

Bunny Skinned and Left for Family to Find

Poor Misty the bunny rabbit. In the early hours of Monday, she was stolen from her hutch, killed and then skinned – her fur coat left lying on the ground for guardians 11-year-old Brad Milne and mum Donna to find. Misty’s sibling Thumper was also missing but was found 24 hours later, traumatised but otherwise ok. The incident happened in Kirkton, Dundee and I seriously recommend anyone with companion animals keep a close eye on them, and bring them indoors where possible. No-one wants to wake up to find that their little bunny has been skinned. PETA are of course offering a reward to find the killer.

And while this case is terribly sad, and our deepest sympathies are with the family, let’s not forget the thousands of rabbits skinned for the fur industry, just so rich and egotistical people can wear it around their neck or cuffs. It’s happening to Mistys all over the world, and rather than discarding the fur, people are actually paying for it.
