Army of 007s Protest Fortnum & Mason’s Foie Gras Cruelty

An army of PETA supporters wearing masks resembling 007 star Sir Roger Moore surrounded Fortnum & Mason with signs that read, “Boycott Fortnum & Mason”, in English, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin and Spanish. Prompted by Moore, PETA’s primary advocate for ending sales of foie gras, the look-alikes encouraged would-be shoppers to skip Fortnum & Mason – which continues to sell foie gras, a product so cruel that its production is illegal in the UK – in favour of Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, both of which no longer put the product… Read more.

Dogs and Cats in Trouble in Ukraine

Update: ‎70 PETA Germany activists held a protest in front of the Ukrainian Embassy in Berlin today 16 November to protest the cat and dog killing prior to the European Championship 2012.

Did you know that in Ukraine, a dog or cat found wandering the streets can be shot on sight or poisoned and left to suffer? Their bodies are tossed into a cremation truck and burned, and some are reportedly burned while alive. It is estimated that in the city of Kiev alone,… Read more.

PETA’s ‘Bunnies’ Take Over Oxford Street!

Our colossal “cottontails” joined in the festivities at Oxford Street last night as the famous London shopping area switched on their Christmas lights. The giant rabbits spread holiday cheer by urging shoppers to go fur-free this holiday season.

Buying fur coats, collars or cuffs made from animals who have been bludgeoned to death, strangled, electrocuted and even skinned alive goes against the Christmas spirit of peace and compassion. With so many fashionable, comfortable and warm faux-fur and pleather options available today, there is no excuse for buying bits and pieces of… Read more.

Semi-Naked TV Presenter ‘Served Up’ as Food on World Vegan Day

To mark World Vegan Day today, presenter and actor Sarah-Jane Honeywell lay virtually naked on a giant plate – complete with to-scale cutlery, chips and peas above a banner that read, “Try to Relate to Who’s on Your Plate. Go Vegan”. She encouraged passers-by to have compassion for the billions of animals who are abused and killed as part of the meat, egg, dairy and fishing industries every year and was accompanied by PETA supporters who handed out copies of PETA’s vegetarian/vegan starter kit.

“Going vegan is the best decision I’ve ever… Read more.

Occupy Compassion!

PETA’s “pig” greeted protesters near St. Paul’s Cathedral this week by handing out free vegan sausages and encouraging them to spare a thought for the millions of animals who suffer every day on intensive confinement–style factory farms controlled by major corporations.

On factory farms, pigs have their tails cut off without being given painkillers, calves are torn away from their mothers shortly after birth and chickens are crammed by the tens of thousands into windowless sheds, where the ammonia from their accumulated waste burns their eyes and throats.

Stand up for the… Read more.

95 French Demonstrators Beaten, Kicked, Punched and Sprayed With Water

The following video contains scenes of violent attacks on a group of demonstrators during a peaceful sit-in to protest the torture and deaths of bulls in archaic bullfights in France on 8 October 2011.

The pro-bullfighting crowd showed the same callousness and violence towards the activists that they do towards bulls, but at no point did the protesters reciprocate with violence.

Here is a rundown of the events at the times they occur:

At 0:56 seconds: Half of the group unfurl banners whilst half enter the bullring to chain… Read more.

More Rabbits Spared From a Life of Suffering

© iStockPhoto.com / rusm

We’re hopping up and down in the PETA office following the news that T&S Nurseries’ plans to build a rabbit-breeding farm in Stamford have been thwarted again! After initial plans were refused, another application was submitted and promptly shot down, saving more bunnies from a life of misery and suffering.

This farm would have been a wholly unnatural environment for these quiet, clean, sociable animals and would have denied them the opportunity to do anything that makes life worth living – before they… Read more.

Miss Earth Contestant: The Best Way to Go Green Is to Go Vegetarian

Wearing a bikini made of lettuce leaves – complemented by a diamante crown – and holding a sign that reads, “Save the Earth: Go Veg”, Miss Earth contestant Maragarita Nazarenko joined PETA outside the largest meat market in the UK today to tell passers-by that the best thing that we can do to protect the environment is to stop eating animals.

“I’ve always been concerned about the health of the planet and my own health, so going vegetarian is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” says Nazarenko, who is… Read more.

Beagles Protest Lab Supplier’s Dog-Breeding

Standing in formation, wearing beagle masks and holding signs that read, “NO to Grimston Beagle Farm”, PETA supporters participated in an eye-catching demonstration in Bristol. They were demanding that the Bristol-based Planning Inspectorate refuse permission for B&K Universal to build a facility that would breed hundreds of dogs to be sold for deadly experiments in the UK and abroad.

B&K Universal is owned by US-based animal laboratory supplier Marshall Farms, which has been cited repeatedly by US authorities for animal welfare violations. Their proposed facilities at Grimston in Yorkshire would have no… Read more.

Cholesterol and animal fat in meat, eggs and dairy products slow the flow of blood to all the body’s organs and can increase the risk of impotence. Besides leading to animal suffering and environmental degradation on a massive scale, eating meat in the kitchen has… Read more.
