WIN: Plans for Yorkshire Beagle Breeding Farm Rejected!

We did it.

East Riding Council in Yorkshire has just rejected the awful proposal to build a new beagle breeding facility in Grimston which would have sent thousands of puppies to suffer in painful and deadly experiments.

Dogs spared from factory farming and cruel testsThe council’s enlightened decision comes after a concerted campaign by people who care about animals. In the space of a week, almost 10,000 compassionate PETA supporters mobilised to send messages opposing the application, and it clearly paid off.

This is a significant victory for beagles. At the facility proposed by the company B & K … Read more.

Victory! 70 Beagles Rescued From Tests!

In a landmark move, 70 beagles who were imported from China by Advinus Therapeutics, a pharmaceutical laboratory in Bangalore, are being released to People For Animals and Blue Cross Chennai following rigorous campaigning for their release by PETA India and these groups. Victories, Progress and Patience

It’s always fantastic to be involved in an intense campaign that achieves quick results for animals. Two weeks ago, we stopped an Air France shipment of monkeys destined for an animal laboratory, and the week before, we persuaded the government to refuse permission for a new beagle-breeding farm.

However, we also make slow and steady progress in areas that impact thousands and even millions of animals. For instance, we have just learned of a small but vital change that removes some of the bureaucratic obstacles preventing companies from bypassing animal … Read more.

Beagles Are Barking With Joy Today!

This is a great day for animals, the government and common sense. We’re thrilled that following months of campaigning by PETA and other groups, including our appeals to East Riding Council and the Secretary of State, an organised protest outside the Planning Inspectorate in Bristol and almost 10,000 objections from PETA supporters, the government has recognised what the public already knew – that breeding dogs for deadly experiments is a shameful trade. Dogs aren’t commodities, and they aren’t test tubes with tails. These dogs have been … Read more.

Beagles Protest Lab Supplier’s Dog-Breeding

Standing in formation, wearing beagle masks and holding signs that read, “NO to Grimston Beagle Farm”, PETA supporters participated in an eye-catching demonstration in Bristol. They were demanding that the Bristol-based Planning Inspectorate refuse permission for B&K Universal to build a facility that would breed hundreds of dogs to be sold for deadly experiments in the UK and abroad.

B&K Universal is owned by US-based animal laboratory supplier Marshall Farms, which has been cited repeatedly by US authorities for animal welfare violations. Their proposed facilities at Grimston in Yorkshire would have … Read more.

Beagles Happy After Barking-Mad Breeding Facility Is Binned

PETA takes its hat off to the East Riding Council for denying the application of B&K Universal (a subsidiary of US-based Marshall Farms) to build an industrial facility for breeding dogs for laboratories. There is no place on UK soil for a mega-corporation that profits off animal suffering – a strong sentiment expressed by more than 2,300 PETA supporters in their letters calling on the council to reject the application. Had B&K succeeded in its plan, thousands of dogs bred at Grimston would have been subjected to experiments here in the UK … Read more.
