Ladies and Gents, I Give You Ingrid Newkirk

Ingrid NewkirkSo, you know what PETA gets up to on a daily basis, thanks to the wonderful world of modern technology; like this blog, online features and regular emails. You hear about the eye-catching protests, the snarky letters, the tear-jerking stories and the victories. But what about the people behind all the hard work? Well, here’s your chance to have a sneak peak at our founder, and PETA US president, (drum roll please)… Ingrid Newkirk!

The Financial Times did a huuuge article on her this Sunday just gone, and even featured her as the cover girl – oo er! If you missed it, fear not, it’s here on the FT website for your viewing pleasure. Learn about her philosophy, that shapes what we do for animals being abused for food, entertainment, fashion and other industries. You can also read about the time fur-lovin’ Anna Wintour was served up a dead racoon at the Four Seasons!

If you haven’t already checked out Ingrid’s blog make that your next stop. Oh, and let me know what you think about the Newkirk Nuggets idea while you’re at it… Would you eat Ingrid to save animals?

Why Anna Wintour Doesn’t Deserve an OBE

So Anna Wintour, the fur-hag editor-in-chief of American Vogue is getting an OBE, huh? Apparently, she has been awarded in the Queen’s birthday list for her ‘service’ to British journalism and British fashion in the US.

Here’s why this decision is a bad one:

Anna Wintour is responsible for the unashamed flaunting of fur between the covers of Vogue. She must therefore share responsibility for the deaths of thousands of animals that are trapped, drowned or beaten to death in the wild, and gassed, strangled or electrocuted on fur farms. She has no excuse – PETA US has shown her footage of animals suffering for this so-called ‘fashion’, yet the pro-fur editorial continues.

Order of the British Empire? More like Order of the Bloody E… actually, you got me there. Comments welcome!
