PETA Asia Pacific Wins Cannes Film Award

Animals winning at Cannes? Yes, they can. Check out this clever ad campaign from PETA Asia-Pacific and top ad firm McCann Erickson Singapore that just snagged a Silver Award for creative excellence at the Cannes International Festival Outdoor Awards.

The ads offer designer shoes, belts, and handbags at “unbelievable prices.” When curious smart phone users scan over the barcodes on the poster to get more information, the shoppers see Joaquin Phoenix’s exposé of the exotic skins trade or Pamela Anderson’s video about the horrors of the leather industry. ‘Boycott Breeders or the Mutt Gets It’

With Crufts starting in just a few short days, we’ve had an illuminated bus shelter ad placed in Birmingham’s city centre, which won’t have dog breeders wagging their tails. The ad shows a small dog cowering under the barrel of a gun and reads, “Boycott Breeders or the Mutt Gets It. Don’t Kill Shelter Dogs’ Chances. Adopt. Never Buy”.

Chicago electro-rapper Kid Sister is getting rave reviews for her debut album, Ultraviolet. She’s been described as everything from the “saviour of female hip-hop” to the “hip-hop messiah” and is generally considered to be one of the coolest people on the planet.
