James Cromwell and Justin Bieber Agree That Air France Sucks

The word has been spreading far and wide about Air France’s notorious cruelty, as it’s the only major airline that still ships monkeys for animal testing. And last week, the campaign got a notable new supporter – Justin Bieber!

The Canadian pop star encountered a group of protesters at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and after learning how primates are snatched from their homes in the wild, crammed into crates and flown to laboratories all over the world on Air France planes, he rightly concluded, “Air France sucks”. Justin – … Read more.

Sickening Revelations: Army Admits to Blowing Up Live Pigs at Secret Base in Wiltshire

Following Freedom of Information requests, it emerged today that the British Army conducts deadly, violent tests on live animals at its secret Porton Down military base in Wiltshire. In three years, 115 pigs were blasted with explosives in terrifying experiments to determine whether they could be saved after being subjected to “severe battlefield trauma” and to evaluate blood-clotting products.

This shocking revelation follows PETA’s release of exclusive photos showing pigs tied to a wooden frame and shot with rifles and handguns in cruel military training drills held in Denmark and callously known … Read more.

Will NATO Say No to Live-Animal Trauma Training?

Pigs ShotA promising development: the small handful of NATO countries (Canada, Denmark, Norway, the UK and the US) that continue to shoot, stab, mutilate and dismember live animals for archaic military training drills might be reconsidering their policies.

An initiative has been launched through NATO to evaluate simulation technology in order to replace the use of animals. As the NATO website says, the crude practice of live animal trauma training “has come under significant scrutiny … [and] will have to be severely curtailed if not completely eliminated”.

That “scrutiny” includes vocal opposition … Read more.

Gutsy US Congressman Takes On the Animal Testing Industry

Congressman Jim Moran proposes anti-vivisection bill in the USAA groundbreaking new bill could bring about an end to tests on animals for cosmetics products in the US!

Compassionate Congressman Jim Moran of Virginia has introduced the Humane Cosmetics Act, which, if passed, would make it illegal to conduct tests on animals for cosmetics in the US and to sell cosmetic products that have been tested on animals.

This would be huge. The US market is enormous and influential, so banning these cruel and archaic tests would save countless rabbits, mice, guinea pigs and other animals from having chemicals rubbed on … Read more.

Inside Experimenters’ Monkey ‘Factory Farm’

Thousands of monkeys are imported to the UK for experiments each year. But where do they come from, and how do they end up in British laboratories?

A recent undercover investigation by the National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) has shed new light on the abhorrent primate trade. The graphic images from its exposé of a breeding facility in Mauritius – one of the biggest suppliers of laboratory monkeys in the world – tell a sickening story of routine abuse inflicted on monkeys, many of whom were snatched from the wild.

PHOTOS: Inside the Secretive Military Training Facility Where Animals Are Mutilated and Killed

Government Fails to Take Promised Action Against Animal Testing

The UK government has just released its delivery plan to “replace, refine and reduce” the use of animals in experiments – and it’s a grave disappointment.

After it had been elected, the Coalition pledged to cut the use of animals in scientific research. But we’ve yet to see any strategy as to how it will deliver on this promise. The plan contains no targets to decrease the number of animals who are tormented, cut up and killed in experiments each year, making it essentially useless. Instead of being a clear and unbiased … Read more.

Journey Straight to Hell – the Story of Monkeys in the Animal Testing Trade

UK primate trafficking airlines macaquesGrim figures recently released by the Home Office show that 1,577 monkeys were imported to UK labs in 2012 from China, Vietnam and Mauritius. These primates were born in breeding facilities in Asia, usually in cramped, squalid conditions, before being packed into wooden crates, loaded onto the hold of a plane and shipped to Britain. Once they arrive, they’re dispatched straight to laboratories, where they will be kept in cages and subjected to agonising, often fatal tests.

This infographic from PETA US takes you through a typical example of these animals’ … Read more.
