Final Appeal: Please Take Action Now for the AstraZeneca Beagles

UPDATE: We’ve just heard the devastating news that most of the AstraZeneca dogs were shipped to UK laboratories over the past few days.

A few dogs are still left in AstraZeneca’s breeding facility in Örkelljunga, Sweden. Please call AstraZeneca’s board today and ask them to show mercy and rehome the remaining beagles.

Victoria Silvstedt’s Plea for the AstraZeneca Beagles

Swedish siren and former Playboy model Victoria Silvstedt was horrified when she heard that more than 300 dogs may be shipped from her home country to UK laboratories for cruel animal tests.

Upon learning about pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca’s plans to consign hundreds of beagles from their breeding facility in Örkelljunga to the torture of animal testing, Victoria immediately fired off a letter to the company’s board imploring its members to show the dogs mercy. She wrote:

Victory! Commissioner Confirms That EU Cosmetics Testing Ban Will Go Ahead

We’ve just sent the European Commission a huge bouquet of flowers. Why? Because we’re delighted by the fantastic news that a ban on the sale of all animal-tested cosmetics in the EU will come into effect in March of this year.

Terrified Monkey Returns From Wasteful Trip to Space – PETA Comments

With the news of a monkey allegedly launched into space, Iran is repeating the wasteful and cruel mistakes that marked the darkest days of the space race. Were Animals Poisoned in Unauthorised Chemical Tests? PETA Complaint Triggers EU Inquiry

In 2011, we learned that animals may have been poisoned and killed in toxicity tests that should never have taken place, as part of the EU’s chemical testing programme, REACH – the largest chemical testing programme in the world.

Israel Bans Animal-Tested Products

Companies that test their products on animals needn’t bother trying to ship them to Israel, because, starting New Year’s Day, the country banned the import, sale and marketing of animal-tested cosmetics, toiletries and household cleaners. Previously, in 2007, the Israeli government had banned using animals to test personal-care and household products within the country.
