Animals Are Suffering. Can You Hear It?

We often hear people say that they can’t bear to watch videos of animals suffering – suffering which is a reality for billions of animals every year. Perhaps those who can’t face watching how meat or dairy products are really made can bring themselves to listen instead.

The shrieking noises of chickens reveal the suffering that they experience for the purpose of producing eggs. Chickens are kept in severely crowded conditions, where mesh rubs off their feathers, chafes their skin and cripples their feet. They are often debeaked, a painful mutilation in which the ends of their sensitive beaks are cut off, and are usually slaughtered after a year of laying eggs.

The squealing noises of pigs expose the agony that they go through when they are hoisted upside down by their back legs and their throats are cut, often without having been effectively stunned.

Dairy cows bellow out desperately, calling for their calves who have been taken away from them when they are just one day old. These cows suffer from painful udder inflammation or mastitis and are exhausted from spending their entire lives on concrete floors as well as from the strain of continual pregnancy – all just to produce milk for human consumption.

By not eating meat and ditching dairy products, you’ll save the lives of up to 100 animals every year and prevent a great deal of suffering. Order our free vegan starter kit to find out just how easy and satisfying giving up animal products can be.

    I disagree with you
I love meat and i realize what happens before it ends up on my plate. I don’t understand why you do this? (propaganda stuff) Nature is brutal, in animal kingdom animals slaughter each other for food, Google ‘alligator attack’. Never mind, I respect your decision (more food for me >:D).
Stay away from animal testing, as far as I know it is very helpful, what should we test products on? humans? What if it burns eyes too much – thousands of people will suffer because you don’t want to test product first. There are strict rules here in UK so GTFO (I assume they are strict.
Mass production animal factories are indeed something that is not right and on this point I agree with you however, If we place more of these factories and send food to developing countries, we might prevent starvation.
-Tip for future, make an argument for your point instead of just showing one view point it will make your point MORE RELIABLE. Wow you face is red are you angry? oh yes please delete this post, anyhow thanks for reading.

Dear jhon, (if that’s how your name is spealt?)

Upon reading your comment I was really quite enraged by your “google ‘alligator attack’” statement. Yes nature is brutal and yes alligators, do indeed, attack their prey. But they attack it to eat it ALL! Unlike us humans that raise, torture, and eventually kill an animal only to waste half of it due to it not being appetising for the general public.

Also your point on ending world hunger “if we place more of these factories and send food to developing countries, we might prevent starvation.” This only goes to show your argument as even more uninformed and unintelligent. Raising animals for meat production requires a lot of food, food produced on land which has been purchased in developing countries leading to many families going hungry due to their land being taken in most cases. If we as a civilisation were to move away from producing so much meat for it to be wasted we could redirect the grain produced to feed animals and give it to developing countries instead. The grain produced in one year to feed the worlds animals would end hunger in the whole of Africa for over a year!

Next point on my list is your argument on animal testing. “What should we test products on? Humans? What if it burns eyes too much – thousands of people will suffer because you don’t want to test product first.” As far as I’m concerned if somebody is going to be stupid enough to put perfume, shampoo, cosmetics or hair dye in their eyes they deserve to go blind. Many experiments conducted on animals are in fact useless and yet they are tested and retested thousands of times each year to give the same useless results. Too many people live with the idea that animal testing is for the greater good. Unfortunately for those narrow minded people their response is wrong. Animals are made differently to us, their genetic make up is completely different to ours, rendering our tests on pain killers completely useless. What works for a beagle won’t work for a human. Anti viral drugs are tested on mice and rats that can’t physically catch the same viruses humans can, due to them being the wrong hosts for the virus, millions of years of evolution have left them immune to a virus we use them to try and develop a cure for.

If you are going to inform somebody to “make an argument for your point” then maybe you yourself should try to educate yourself and gain an understanding of both sides of the argument before jumping in all guns blazing trying to make conscientious people look like fools. All you have managed to do in this situation is make YOURSELF look like a fool.

Here’s your tip for the future, learn how to spell for a start. Correct spelling and good use of grammar is a great step towards making yourself appear educated. It also helps gain respect in an debate when you are trying to disprove somebody’s point. One more tip would be to do some research into a subject before creating a debate. This way you can avoid people like me from showing you to be nothing more than a narrow minded idiot sitting behind a computer screen trying to be something you’re quite obviously not.

      Kind regards,

A soppy yet, well educated and argumentative, VEGETARIAN!

Hi, yes, I agree. What john may not realise is that animals actually suffer abuse in the slaughterhouse, not only at the time of slaughter, but leading up to this. The fear they suffer, the terrible living conditions eg cold concrete floors to lay on in cramped sub-human conditions, calves in veal crates etc, and slaughterhouse staff have been filmed kicking and punching the animals, and even stubbing our cigarettes on their bodies. This is disgusting, and sadistic treatment of living creatures, but it goes on…when you see the meat on your plate, think of this eg! Also animal testing isn’t accurate, animals bodies are very different to humans in many ways, so how can it be? There are now alternatives to animals testing, but many continue to use animals as a cheaper option! Regarding testing cosmetics, this is pure vanity, and a disgrace that we test shampoos, cremes and lipsticks eg on animals…rabbits have chemicals dripped in their eyes, causing agony, all so some vain idiot can have yet another shampoo to choose from. Look at the shelves of any chemist completely crammed with all these endless treatments, its hard to know where to begin as it is…do we really need more?? There are many companies who refuse to test on animals and produce lovely products from natural and trusted ingredients, so why don’t all companies follow these rules? Some test on humans which makes sense, if we want luxuries like cosmetics, why should animals suffer? Its 2014, time to leave the dark ages and start giving animals the respect they deserve……Sarah

Why not test on humans, if you want products for humans then they should be tested on humans. animals do not use make up and toiletries so why should they suffer for human vanity.

    Per Jhon
Gli animali non ci devono nulla….sono semplici creature che come noi abitano questo pianeta. Impariamo a condividerlo con loro!
