Vegan Treats for Bonfire Night

Bonfire night vegan foodBonfire Night is a great time to share some warming food with friends, but be sure to avoid that haunting feeling that someone else had to die in order to produce it by keeping it cruelty-free.

Also, Guy Fawkes Night fireworks can be frightening to dogs, cats and other animals, as they have no way of understanding that the explosions are for entertainment, not signs of danger. Once your furry friends are safe, here are some ideas for simple and seasonal vegan treats:

  • Always a classic, corn on the cob, prepared with dairy-free margarine, wrapped up and popped on the coals, will be ready in less than 20 minutes.
  • Everyone’s favourite, jacket potatoes can be oiled and foiled and left for around 30 minutes – add veggie sausages halfway through for a great hearty meal.
  • Pumpkin soup is a warming winter crowd-pleaser.
  • Wrap your hands around a cup of Green & Black’s cocoa, made with your favourite non-dairy milk.
  • Cook up some simple and delicious vegan flapjacks. Here’s a recipe – feel free to modify it by adding in your favourite fruit, nuts or even vegan chocolate chips. Enjoy!
