Badger Culling – Barbaric and Misguided

In the light of this week’s distressing news that thousands of badgers are likely to be killed in the UK, here’s a statement from Team Badger, (of which PETA is a member) on just how pointless and wrong this culling is:

The Government’s determination to go ahead with the badger cull this summer once again proves how misguided and out of step with scientific fact and public opinion it is on this issue. Culling badgers is not the answer to eradicating bovine TB. Not only is the practice inhumane and impractical. It is also proven to be ineffective in tackling the disease, as has been made repeatedly clear by all the leading scientific experts.

There is also a viable alternative: vaccination, which Team Badger, a growing coalition of like minded animal welfare organisations, is committed to, as made clear in our recent submission to the EFRA Committee. Team Badger strongly condemns the Government’s support for this barbaric policy and we remain committed to working together and with others to stop the cull going ahead.

I used to visit a local woods near my home in Buckinghamshire where Badgers lived at night sit quietly and watch the Badgers amazing animals long may they reign.
