World Heart Day: Go Vegan to Prevent Cardiovascular Disease

According to the World Health Organisation, cardiovascular disease is the world’s largest killer. It claims 17.3 million lives a year worldwide. That’s more than malaria, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis combined! But there’s one way to help prevent heart disease: by eating a plant-based diet.

It’s true! Going vegan can help prevent the vast majority of instances of cardiovascular disease as well as other degenerative illnesses. According to the American Heart Association, one of the world’s leading health authorities, vegetarians “have a lower risk of obesity, coronary heart disease (which causes heart attack), high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and some forms of cancer”. And the British Medical Association has shown that vegetarians have lower rates of obesity, coronary heart disease and high blood pressure. After recommendations by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition, the Department of Health recently advised Britons to eat less meat in order to cut their risk of cancer.

By abandoning animal products, people can lower their cholesterol levels and even reverse heart disease and lead healthier, fuller lives.

For World Heart Day, the best thing that you can do for your ticker is take our pledge to go vegan and order your free vegetarian/vegan starter kit today!

Ordering this for my dad to show him the benefits of veganism. He had a heart attack earlier this year but is still eating meat and dairy!

Going vegan or vegitarianis the right way to go. Of course, one should only do this if they have the means to keep up their protein intake. My little sister made the decision and is now very ill as she will not eat quorn or other supplements. Providing you still eat all the nutrients you need, vegetarianism is a great choice
