The newly crowned Formula 1 World Champions Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing are also winners off the track when it comes to animals – both refuse to eat or serve foie gras!

PETA has confirmed that German driver Vettel, who raced to victory in Abu Dhabi at the weekend, would never dream of eating the cruel foodstuff. And when PETA’s foie gras campaign ambassador, Tamara Ecclestone, wrote to Red Bull Racing’s Team Principle Christian Horner earlier this year to explain how ducks and geese on foie gras farms are force-fed via metal pipes that are rammed down their gullet until their livers become so grossly enlarged that they can hardly walk, he immediately signed PETA’s foie gras pledge and instructed the team’s chefs never to serve the cruel delicacy at any of Red Bull’s events.

In fact, serving foie gras is fast becoming the ultimate faux pas in the glamorous world of F1 racing, with other teams who have also signed PETA’s pledge including Mercedes GP, Virgin Racing, Williams and Toro Rosso. We are particularly grateful to Tony Fernandes, Team Principle of Lotus F1 Racing, who not only pledged never to serve foie gras at Lotus events but also said that he would make his airline, Air Asia, foie gras–free too!

That’s great! Any chance they’ll pledge to become fully vegetarian?
