Vote for Your Favourite PETA Europe Stunt!

In the years that PETA Europe has been stirring up action for animals in this corner of the world, we’ve done some pretty crazy publicity stunts, ads and events that have grabbed your (and the media’s!) attention. This means getting the important message about animal cruelty, and how we can stop it, to the masses.

There have been naked protests, celebrity ads, and sooo much more. But what we want to know is which was your favourite stunt! Leave a comment below with your answer, and on Friday 22nd August we’ll pick someone at random for a fun-packed prize of PETA goodies, letting you know if you’ve won by the following Tuesday.

Honourable mentions include:

Manure dump at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant: Last year, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay got his come-uppance for cooking horse meat on The F-Word, when a truck-load of horse manure was delivered to his restaurant.

Force-feeding activists in Selfridges foie-gras protest: We tied an activist to a chair (of her own free will!) down Oxford Street and ‘force-fed’ her grain to highlight Selfridges’ failure to take cruel foie-gras off their shelves.

Running of the Nudes in Pamplona: Bullfighting and Running of the Bulls are bloodsports that PETA supporters just love to get naked about! For five years running, hundreds of nude activists marched the streets of Pamplona to protest this cruel ‘tradition’.

MPs protest against bearskin hats: Cross-party MPs put their differences and paperwork aside for the afternoon, as key parliamentary figures including Glenda Jackson and Chris Mullin donned big faux-fur hats and protested against the use of real bearskins for the Queen’s Guards’ caps.

Naked, pregnant farrowing crate protest: A heavily pregnant (and v. brave!) gal got naked and on all fours in Covent Garden for Mother’s Day, to highlight the suffering of pigs forced to live in farrowing crates.

There are loads more, so dig deep, think back and do remind me of any I may have forgotten! Oh, and check out the privacy policy and terms and conditions if you’re gunning to win our goodie bag. Let the voting begin!

I like it whenever people get naked. My favourite is running of the nudes because then there are lots of naked people at once!

I like that “Naked & Pregnant” demo, it rawsome & tells exactly how pigs suffer . . .

I vote for the naked, pregnant stunt because it makes a very clear analogy between non-human and human motherhood - there is no difference and that point is made with a simple yet strong performance.

Has to be Running of the Nudes for me, I had the pleasure of attending three years in a row, and despite working hard for animals - the amount of compassionate people there simply overwhelmed me - I have met friends for life there and fought for animals’ rights too..

Bring back ROTN!!

Definately the Running of the Nudes. It was a real attention-grabber & got alot of media coverage for an extremely good cause. It was fun but also had a very serious side to it - to try & end the cruelty of bull fighting.

I vote for the Gordon Ramsey because he got what he deserved! HA HA!

I’d like to be more specific on my previous vote:

I chose the Gordon Ramsey stunt, as I’ve heard him “flaming” vegetarians and vegans. Therefore I think it was good to let him know, that he can’t get away with anything, and specially not cooking horses!

I chose the Force-feeding activists in Selfridges foie-gras protest to tell people that all the french don’t eat foie gras…

nous devons arrêter d’exploiter le monde animal…

I vote for the Running of the Nudes because, even though they’re all attention-grabbing, ROTN got attention from people all over the world.
