Jean-Paul Gaultier Catwalk Models Wear Foxes’ Heads

In a disgusting display of arrogance last night, Jean-Paul Gaultier sent his models down the Paris Fashion Week catwalks wearing the heads of foxes. Yes, you read right – foxes’ heads. Among other furry items.

PETA’s managing director Ingrid Newkirk said: “I adore gay men, but this one must be so phobic of women that he fears even the skinny ones could bite his head off at any moment, so year after year he sticks teeth on their heads.” It certainly seems like he’s trying to make up for the fact he’s a has-been by going way over the top, but this far, really?

There are sooo many reasons why Gaultier and other designers shouldn’t be using fur, as seen in Stella McCartney’s video where foxes can be seen languishing in filthy, cramped fur farms.

Not cool Gaultier, not cool.

This pathetic little man disgusts me .
I would like all these people to sit in a room with the worlds media and sit through all the videos that PETA have. I would like to see their reaction. I bet they havent even looked at the videos before - Arrogant does not even come close. I have nothing but hate for these people and hope that they reap what they sow one day!!!!!

Since when can Ingred call anyone “way over the top” I always thought she was as extreme and as far out there as anyone could be.

this is one really seriously sick Dude!! on the other side..he’s just reminding everyone (unintentionally) that.. yes.. these were once live living animals before being killed and skins ripped off their bodies so that his grubby hands could get onto them to fashion into his wierd and eccentric ‘fashion’ designs..
hey Ghastly Gualtier.. you’re actually highlighting this very fact for all those dumb fur wearers who dont’ even think once let alone twice where these furs once came or BELONGED to..

how about launching a petition? have no respect for this poor little man…

I am disgusted that in this day in age that so-called designers are still using real fur when there are alternatives to barbaric cruelity. The models should be ashamed of themselves for parading down the catwalk in these monstrosities, obviously not a brain cell between them!

I respect peoples views and opinions when it comes to conservation but PETA take it way to far. from the early years of this earth people were using animal skin as clothiing and back then no complaint of cuelty or unfairness and then the influence of todays media behind these corporations they protest. Personally i feel Jean Paul Gaultiers clothing line with the foxes is quite a master piece. There always has been and always will be a food chain and im sure a bear or a shark wouldn’t think twice about killing us humans do groups of them get together and smear red paint all over our shop fronts i dont think so. Eveyone is entitled to their own opinion and that is mine simple solution if you dont like it DONT buy it or wear it truth is their are people that will wear these designs keep striving JEAN ur amazing….

just when you think people can’t sink any lower than using fur, this idiot makes an appearance. what a callous, uneducated an ghastly man he is. keep going all of you, defend the rights of fur bearing animals, let them know they matter!

I do not think PETA take things too far in terms of raising awareness of animal cruelty, using the media to reach the general public. What is too far is the farming and butchering of animals for fashion.
As someone who works in fashion, i do not see any genious in Gaultier’s work and my thoughts of him as a designer have plummeted…his cat walk collection showed a lack of creativity and someone who is loosing touch with today’s fashion trends…It was a disgusting display just to shock and get in the papers, and in that respect, he succeeded.

What a pathetic little man to put on such a display! He is obviously trying to compensate for a lot of inadequacies. I could almost feel sorry for him, except that his arrogance is inflicting cruelty to others.

I suggest CKneale (who obviously still brandishes up a torch for fashion designers who use real animal furs in their designs) to take off her rose tinted spectacles that she still obviously wears and peers through on the brutal fur trade and read the articles of a year long investigation of China fur trade taken by 3 animal welfare organizations..
www.careforthewild.org and the Swiss report on www.animal-protection.net and get a grip on reality on just how really truly brutal the fur trade is to millions of animals.
So they killed animlas in stone age era to keep warm.. that’s understandable.. nowadays it’s not for warmth..but merely and purely for fashion.. everybody with a pea brain knows that..
I quote a passage from the CWI report.
“the lives of millions of animals held captive in Chinese fur farms are characterized by extraordinary and chronic suffering, before being terminated in the most violent and agonizing deaths.”

Good on you CKneale for supporting such brutality and cruelty and death to millions of animals….for the sake of silly frivolous fashion..

It’s very sad that Callan Kneale still thinks it’s ok for animals to be killed for their fur ‘because from the early years of this earth people were using animal skin as clothiing’. What the hell, lets continue living in the dark ages!!! And regarding Callan’s statement of ‘a bear or a shark wouldn’t think twice about killing us humans’ - they kill to survive. Us humans do it for pleasure. Fortunately we do not need to eat animals or fish to live. More importantly, we should not be using fur at all especially for some pathetic ‘fashion’ designer who thinks it impressive for poor defenceless animals’ skin to be paraded by models in front of pathetic spectators. Finally in my opinion I find it very bad taste for Callan Kneale to call Jean-Paul’s work a master piece. Now that’s what I call extreme!!

i am almost lost for words …yes i am lost for words i just find it all so hard to understand … these people should be forced to see what goes on in such vile trades as animal cruelty ………

It was so gross - I thought it was a actually a PeTA publicity stunt - like the Respect ugly bitch posters in the 1980’s

It surely had the effect of turning people off fur rather than on to it ….. surely ???

peta should make fur farm videos and postcards available for people to send to these sick individuals, were is the compassion? we as a civilisation have not progressed any further than the the gory days of the roman empire, JPG must be making a fortune from the fur promoters/producers.

hey Jean Paul, aint you pick up the word from the street, basic is cool if you listen to Prince Harry’s words; hes got light, hes got music, hes got food. what more does one need. Listen to da street. fur is replusive dated and dragging an already sad society even sadder, you nerd.

If i was one of these ugly male/female models with bones for a body they should all be thinking twice about what they are getting involved in too. Just hope Stella does not use any model who has has no morales where fur in concerned, i note she is mates with jaded Kate, is this cos she is a nice lady, not if she wears fur she’s not.

Callan Kneale, that’s all well and good when the animals are killed in a humane manner, but have you seen this?!

Gaultier must like getting himself despised and the stupid models must do as well. May all their careers flop. They have got to be absolute airheads not to realise what the consequences of their actions means to the animals.

Burberry’s logic must be this or they think like this.. and that includes all the ohters in their ‘ilk’
we are ‘up market’ fashion company .. our fur garments incluidng trim are ‘the real thing’..only real animal fur is used to adorn our products and real fur is so much more beautiful, luxurious than those faux fur could ever be..
my logic or thinking is..
animal suffering, misery all it’s life and ultimately awaiting the inevitable - a turly horrnedous death whether it be elecricution..skinned alive, etc. etc..
for your ‘beautiful’furs for your ‘elegant’ high quality fashions..
is and will NEVER EVER be acceptable or JUSTIFIABLE .. EVER!!!
so you can flaunt your fashions and dig your heels in defiance and continue with your digusting wares..
your consciences are all questionable and re. morals (if you have any!) you all have a lot to answer for..

Jean-Paul-Gautier thinks he is one of these imaginative artistic designers who command peoples attention, you dont commant mine Jean, because you are a sad headline-grabbing little has-been designe, who knows he can grab more attention for being outrageous and cruel, than showing compassion and thoughtfulness, a couple of weeks ago, a puerto Rican ‘artist’ tied up and starved a dog to death ‘for art’
lock up these morons and throw away the key

the whole world isn’t going to stop buying fur products and as long as there’s a market for it, they’ll use it on clothing.
i don’t like the use of fur on clothing, i agree, it’s cruel and there are other alternatives. however, it has to be accepted that everyone has different opinions and can’t necessarily see any cruelty in killing animals for their fur.
basically - life’s too short.

posted by Callan Kneale on May 12th, 2008 at 2:39 am

And my point wasn’t that it wasn’t cruel i never said that .. but all you losers who cant respect the opinions of others need to get a quick grip on life because if you think such a small minority of people are going to stop this from happening your so dillusional… my point was PETA have no right to then go and throw paint all over JP’S shop front that is completely disrespectful and illegal yet because it was a protest nothing gets done about it.. i dont know about your countries but here in Australia you get arrested for Graffiti. So in protesting which by the way changed absolutly nothing makes you losers stoop to the level of the scum that deserve to be in prison. Instead of wasting money on cans of paint donate that money to Animal welfare but by throwing red paint on his shop you use government money to which they would use to clean it up money that could be used to save your animal friends… and when your next eating dairy or fresh milk think of where it comes from and these FOXES used as hats that come in and attack my cows preventing your milk…. you are all so so caught up in SAVING THE PLANET that you feel you can do what ever you want to prevent it from happenening and thats wronfg there are better avenues GROW UP CHILDREN
