Canada’s Seal Hunt is Here

Now, I haven’t written much on the impending seal hunt as yet, so a slap on the wrist is needed. It isn’t because I have something against the seals, I promise. In fact I think they’re really cute and totally deserving of our attention at this vital time. So, without further ado I introduce you to our Stop the Bloody Seal Massacre campaign.

Depending on when you read this blog entry, the seal hunt will have either begun or will be starting in just a few hours. This is such a serious, hideous crime against nature, and hundreds of thousands of baby harp seals will be bludgeoned to death for the skins on their backs. This Daily Mail article tells of rules and regulations that have supposedly been implemented to ensure the annual slaughter is “humane, sustainable and responsible,” but how can ‘skinning seals’ and ‘humane’ be used within the same sentence? Get a grip, Canada.

This is atrocious. No one in their right mind would sit back and let this sort of thing carry on, there’s nothing humane about killing. I saw some footage of this on the news, and it made me sick to my stomach. One seal managed to escape the clutches of the maniac chasing him, but that’s only one. This sort of thing needs to stop.

wow, i seriously had NO idea what-so ever about this sick anual. this has totally put me off the idea of going to canada for any holiday. i’m not blaming the people of canada, i’m blaming the government for letting this SICK thing happen.

The seal slaughter in Canada is beyond comprehension - as with everything involving animal cruelty it is profit driven. We must now aim our attentions to those who think it acceptable to make money out of such misery - companies using seal-skin should be strongly boycotted.

This inhuman slaughter is unforgivable. How
could the Canadian Government approve of such a
barbaric field of blood and misery. I could not
watch the video as Ive watched it before and its
heartbreaking all for “the love of fur” -
outrageous !

Since years the Canadian Government allows sick killers to run on the ice and murder innocent and defenceless baby and young seals!! They pretend that they are too many??? But then why not take the older ones??? This is nothing but a big LIE!!!
Canadian PM should be ashamed to allow such barbary! And for sure all my relatives, friends, myself and half the world will never go to a country where animal rights are not respected at ALL!!! Shame on Canada!!! Shame on the killers!!!

Oh…barbaric killers should be jailed for life! And why not run on the ice…just like they do and hit them on the head with a pick until they fall??? I am the one…and I am sure millions would follow me!
Please PETA and other organisations GO AHEAD AND TO THE ICE…STOP THIS HORROR! and protect those magnificent and innocent animals.
Canada Government should be prosecuted and put away from this Hearth for EVER!
My heart is crying and bleeding for the baby seals…

SHOCKED!!!
…this horrible baby seal mass killing is simply shocking! How can this happen? why scientists do not react? why other governments do nothing? and high position people like Al Gore? he is fighting for environment so why not for innocent animals? they are part of our creation too! we need them.
The murderers should be arrested and jailed! or why not giving them the same treatment?…its HORRIFYING!

I’m not normally against things like this but the seal hunt is so uncalled for, anyone who wears fur is contributing to this behaviour, I’d like to add that because this industry is all about money can’t they make money through tourism like holidays to go see the seals and walk up to them etc, I think it would be something people would want to do - turn off the baby seal killing and turn it into tourism instead. It’s sad for the seals but sadder that people could skin seals in this way without compassion, if it isn’t humane it needs to stop what kind of people do this for a living.

I agree with Benjamen Harries!
This would be such a great idea to suggest to Canada Government about turning this blood bath into a tourism holiday where people could come to see the lovely babies and spend money around! Maybe its a dream…But from the bottom of my heart I pray to God it will become true…and finally save those innocent and beautiful animals!

Gawd I wish I could see the seal mums and dads attack those a**holes and win. Or at least watch them fall through the ice, it that really so much to ask?
