Big Brother Housemates Treated Like Lab Animals

Last night, Big Brother treated the housemates to a series of electric shocks “worse than childbirth”. What gives? Dennis and Rachel were charged with the task of guiding a metal wand along a wire track (much like the ones from my childhood), but rather than getting a gentle shock that made them jump and then laugh it off, the housemates were soon in tears from the pain of the ‘bum buzzers’. Just so you know, I’m not going anywhere near a joke about that…

Anyway, if you saw it, you know how it went down. If you didn’t see it (what were you doing?! Having a life? Shame on you), all you need to know is they all wore gold body suits, failed the task, the housemates got shocks, and they are now on food rations of £1 each a day. So where am I going with all this?

As I watched it, I couldn’t help but think how these people could get up at any time and call off the ‘experiment’. Sure, they’d get shouted at (and an argument did ensue, of course) but unlike animals in laboratories, there was an end in sight – freedom would prevail. Across the world, hundreds of millions of monkeys, rats, rabbits, dogs and countless other species of animals are trapped in a life of painful experimentation at the hands of somebody else. There’s no taking off the gold suit for them.

Oh, and on a lighter note, housemate Jennifer Clark is on the Sexy Veg List which comes to an end in just a few days – so get in there quick and vote for her!

I doubt there is any comparison between some Big Brother ordeal and being an animal in one of Britains many animal abuse labs.
