Alicia Silverstone Is Naked

Now that I’ve caught your attention, I want to talk about vegetarianism. We’re on Day 3 of World Vegetarian Week, and it’s important… oh sod it. Just enjoy the video. But promise me you’ll pay special attention to what Alicia Silverstone is saying, not just what she’s doing. Thanks for playing.

Oh and before I finish up this entry, two final points:

Check out this great post on the Guardian food blog Word of Mouth.

Fraser Lewry (remember the meat-addict giving up animals for the week?) has been ‘clean’ for three days now, give him your support here!

Hi there, I read the Guardian food blog you pointed to and I have to say, I didn’t see anything great about it. The writer says he’s got no qualms about eating meat as long as animals are treated humanely. What a joke - ‘humane meat’ is the animal farming equivalent of ‘greenwash’, a marketing ploy designed to remove consumer guilt and which is even attracting some vegetarians back to animal dead flesh. I don’t think you can put the words ‘humane’ and ’slaughter’ together. Ever. Happy meat is detrimental to the animal cause and animal rights activists must reject this rapidly spreading evil.

I have been a vegetarian since the age of 11 and 12 years on I am still alive ! I am glad to see that awareness of being vegetarian is cool and not some “fad”.

I will never eat meat, fish or chicken again as I am opposed to the whole concept of eating flesh or by-products from something which once had a heartbeat.

Any children I might have will also be vegetarian and will have the correct amount of nutrition required as any child of mine would - they can make the choice when they are older - I can’t say that taking a child to a fast food restaurant and giving them a hamburger is any more nutritious than not letting them have it at all !

Yours sincerely,

A healthy vegetarian. :o)
